Faith and community standards rooted in Scripture.

This statement presents the academy’s Biblical beliefs and community standards as provided by St. Clement Christian Academy.

The Word of God

We believe that the Bible, the Word of God, is infallible and inspired by the Holy Spirit, is the final authority with regard to truth, morality, sexual identity and marriage.

Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred, and that mankind is created in the image of God.

We believe that human life begins at conception and ends at death.

We believe that every human has value, including those with special needs, physically and mentally.

Scripture reference: Psalm 139.

Family

We believe that the family unit, which consist of one husband (male/man) and one wife, (female/woman) and may also include natural born or adopted children) is God’s ordained structure of society. (Gen. 2:20-25) The structure and order of the family is found in Eph. 5:22-6:4) We believe that the family, as defined by Scripture, is foundational to a healthy and stable society.

We do not sanction marriages between same sex persons and further believe that homosexuality is a violation of God’s divine order. (Romans 1:19-32)

At creation, God created Adam, man and Eve, woman. We believe this act of creation was done so by the wisdom of God, creating us in His own image. Marriage is the joining of these two distinct genders into one flesh and is a symbol of the love of Christ toward the church.

Biblical marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6). Biblical marriage promotes the bearing and rearing of children and an exercise of stewardship over creation (Genesis 2:27-28). Therefore, a Christian wedding is not just a ceremony that satisfies a civil union but an act of worship in which a bride (woman) and groom (man) participate in a holy covenant, experience worship, exchange Scriptural vows, receive prayer, and receive a Divine blessing.

Scripture references: Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:7; Genesis 2:18-19; I Corinthians 6:18; 7:2; Hebrews 13:4.

Singles

Some lives are lived in singleness. As singles, they, just like married couples, live in complete wholeness and intimacy with the Father. As singles, they are not less than, because in the Kingdom of God, every person, whether married or single is more than a conqueror in Jesus Christ.

Single Parent Households

We recognize that single parent households are also family units.

Moral Conduct

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including but not limited to pre-marital sex, adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)

The Bible teaches that while sex within marriage is pure and honorable, sex outside a marriage covenant is a sin against God’s holiness. (Hebrews 13:4)

The seventh commandment, “You shall not commit adultery,” protects the sexual relationship between a man and woman who are united in marriage by forbidding marital infidelity, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, bestiality, and the use of pornography (Exodus 20:14).

According to Scripture, God’s standard for sexuality before marriage is celibacy, saying “no” to both heterosexual and homosexual lusts (Matthew 5:27-30). Celibacy is a gift of God that allows the unmarried to live a life of purity and contentment, so that a person does not have to engage in sexual activity to have a full and satisfying life (1 Corinthians 7:7-9).

Men and women are created with sexual drives that are God given and when the sexual drive is held in purity before marriage, will find its celebratory God given expression within the marriage covenant.

Homosexual behavior is sinful and unnatural (Romans 1:24-28). Like other sexual temptations, homosexual lust is highly addictive and difficult to cease. However, we do believe in God’s power to deliver and set free, and that God’s grace is sufficient to forgive and cleanse from all sin.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.)

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture.

Sexual Identity

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

Staff and Volunteer Agreement

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of SCCA, and to provide a Biblical role model to its members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed in any capacity, agree and adhere to the school’s Constitution and Bylaws and the Doctrinal Statement.

Therefore, to be integrous to our Scriptural beliefs, we would not employ persons who are homosexual, bisexual, transgender or pansexual.

(Matt 5:16)

Property and Facility Usage

SCCA may not in good conscience, materially cooperate in activities or beliefs that are contrary to its faith. To do so, would be a grave violation of the school’s faith and religious practices. (2 Cor 6:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:22.)

We further believe it is important that we present a consistent message to the community, and that all employees conscientiously maintain that message as part of their witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Facility use will not be permitted to persons or groups holding, advancing, or advocating beliefs or practices that conflict with the school’s faith or moral teachings.

This policy applies to all facilities, regardless of whether the facilities are connected or on the same property, because all of its facilities are seen as holy and set apart for worship to God. (Col 3:17.)
